Nancy Pelosi is one of the most powerful voices in the Democratic Party in the US.
So powerful in fact that when Joe Biden pulled out of the presidential race three weeks ago, many speculated that it was because of her.
Biden has even since claimed that she had a significant role to play.
Whether this is true or not, Pelosi’s tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives 2007 to 2011 and again from 2019 to 2023 makes her a formidable force in American politics.
In an exclusive interview on The News Agents, she spoke about everything from Donald Trump and Joe Biden to Liz Truss and Boris Johnson.
Nancy Pelosi says Liz Truss "doesn't know what she's talking about"
‘Biden was the most consequential president of modern times…he should be on Mount Rushmore’
It was only a few weeks ago, but it hasn’t been forgotten - Biden’s disastrous first TV debate against Donald Trump during his short-lived 2024 presidential campaign.
Rumours were swirling that powerful voices within the Democrat Party wanted to oust Biden as soon as the next day.
Nancy Pelosi did not divulge to Jon and Lewis whether she was directly involved in Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race.
“I’m not having any discussion of any conversations I may have had about this. He made his decision, and his decision has led to Kamala being our nominee, and we're very proud of her.”
And she is proud of Biden and his legacy.
“Joe Biden is the most consequential president of modern times. He has accomplished more with the work of the Democratic Congress than any president in recent history.
“He should be on Mount Rushmore”, she later added.
“I think he is remarkable. His legacy is a great one. It must be protected”.
But this legacy was “greatly at risk”, Pelosi said, warning that it could have been ruined if he lost to Donald Trump in November.
He who shall not be named
Speaking of Trump, Pelosi practically refuses to mention the former president by name.
“I just don't feel like mentioning his name. It's sort of like a foul word to me”, she told Lewis and Jon.
But she was not hesitant to criticise Trump and his policies.
“This is a person who has no value system… What they're proposing with Project 2025 is so undermining of how we meet the needs of the American people.”
“How about ‘let's do away with the Department of Education’, because in public schools, they teach critical thinking.
“The only thing he did when he was president, and they had the majority, was a tax cut that gave 83% of the benefits to the top 1%, adding $2 trillion to the national debt.”
Great to be at @RNC in Milwaukee seeing President Trump get nominated.

Pelosi says Liz Truss "doesn't know what she's talking about"
Former prime minister Liz Truss has previously said she thinks the world was safer when Donald Trump was president, Lewis pointed out the Pelosi.
According to Pelosi, Truss “doesn’t know what she’s talking about”, and nor does Boris Johnson.
“That’s what their philosophy is”, she added.
It comes after both Brits were spotted at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee last month.
Pelosi continued: “For them to say the world is safer under Trump, who didn't even know what NATO was, who wants to weaken NATO, who does not want to honour our mutual defense provisions of NATO…how do they like that in the UK?”
What does Pelosi think of Kamala Harris?
“Officially, she's very strong. She knows the priorities, she knows the issues, she knows the strategy. She’s eloquent on them.”
“She's a person of deep faith, and that faith is what motivates her to care about people and be involved civically and politically and to help people, personally”, Pelosi said.
“Officially, she's very strong. She knows the priorities, she knows the issue, she knows the strategy. She’s eloquent on them.”
This is why she believes the vice president will make a great leader, should she win the November election.
Pelosi said: “She has the talent, the stamina, the values, the vision to be a great president, who happens to be a woman.”
